What Are the Advantages of Ductless Mini Splits?

Ductless mini splits pair an outdoor compressor with an indoor [air-handler]. You can install these flexible systems to add comfort in any part of your home, from your basement to the attic. Here are some other advantages:

1. Heat and cool with ease.

Want all-in-one home comfort? Ductless mini splits provide heating, cooling, and ventilation. Plus, you can control it all at the touch of a button using a smart thermostat.

2. Spend less on heating and cooling.

If you’re looking for an energy-efficient solution to keep your home comfortable, mini splits are hard to beat. They use 30 percent less energy than a conventional air conditioning unit and 60 percent less than electric resistance heating on average [LINK: energystar.gov]. Plus, they are easy to maintain.

3. Enjoy some peace and quiet.

The small indoor modules are anything but clunky. They’re easy to install, mounting snugly to your wall. Additionally, the fans make very little noise. In fact, sometimes it’s difficult to tell if your mini split is running. You’ll find it easy to soak in the peace and quiet.

How Do They Work?

A small, rectangular indoor air handler unit mounts to your wall, ventilating and controlling the temperature of the surrounding areas. A small conduit that houses the condensate drain, suction tubing, refrigerant tubing, and power cable connects the air handler to the compressor.

You can install one air handler to add comfort to a part of your home or add multiple air handlers to create a zone control system. Our licensed professionals will recommend the best setup for your home.

Seasonal maintenance protects your investment and ensures it runs at optimal efficiency. Additionally, it allows your HVAC specialist to spot and fix small problems before they become costly repairs.

Here are a few of the many vital maintenance tasks your expert will perform:

  • Clean the condensate drain
  • Check for refrigerant leaks
  • Fine-tune electrical connections

Ductless units work harder than most of their competitors. Plus, you can install a ductless heat pump that offers you heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. It is the perfect solution to add comfort in areas where extending ductwork might be a costly hassle.

“Our family is very happy with the whole process of replacing the old mini-split heatb pump. Todd Hulbert, the salesman, was a big help with choosing the right system and the process went smoothly.
The two installers, Tim Travers and Zach Hanson were a great team. From the moment they arrived they made me feel comfortable and provided great service in a polite and friendly manner. And before leaving they explained all the functions and took time to answer any questions that we had.
So, I give high marks and recommend the Air Flo company.
It's great to feel cozy and warm….”

“Installation of a new heat pump for a ductless mini split system and two indoor units went really well. Tim and Zach were both fastidious about our home, which was so welcome. The positioning, the care, the attention to detail, both mechanical and aesthetic, the focused work — it all led to a great result and we couldn't be happier. We were surprised late in the game to learn that site prep for the exterior unit was in our wheelhouse, but even there, we got a great crew together and everyone collaborated really well. Highly recommend.”
